We all have positive and negative influences in our lives — both human and not-so-human. What if there is no 100% surefire way to only work with the “good” energies? What if the situation is far more dynamic? What if this is the whole point of this game in the first place?
In this video, I discuss the challenges we face in navigating the world of influence. This dimension of life plays out both in how we seek to influence others, as well as how we are, in turn, also influenced by those around us.
And truth be told, the influences we are under are not limited to the human realm, not by a long shot.
This is why I love the image of that one scene from the Wizard of Oz where Dorothy is stepping out of the house that just crashed to the ground in Oz and is for the very first time encountering this being from another realm.
Although it sounds innocent enough, she displays great wisdom in asking that one simple question: Are you a good witch or a bad witch?
In real life, of course, we may ask — but that doesn’t mean we will get an answer we can trust.
How can you know if the beings you are dealing with are “good” or “bad”?
Go Straight to the Source
One answer that emerges is this: skip all middle-men and go straight to the top… work only with Source, the One True Source, the Mother/Father Creator, etc…
I have been there. This has been my go-to many times. It makes sense.
Skip anything in between that calls itself a god. Skip the messengers, the beings calling themselves Angels… how else to be sure we avoid the lying little demonic buggers too?
But it has recently occurred to me that this may be defeating the very purpose of why we are challenged in the first place.
What if the very reason we so feel the need to go to the source is precisely because we are being called upon to develop our abilities to engage in the dynamic world of contrast and polarity? And what if we are being called to engage in this messy upside down world precisely because this is what will help us evolve our souls the most? And also precisely because this is what will help this realm become a better place in the process?
The Nature of the Game
Not all games are just for fun. Some games are also designed to help us evolve and grow.
If I were to wake up tomorrow with absolute clarity about the complete intentions behind everything — clear vision about everyone’s full intentions… if I suddenly understood everything about every human and every spirit that approached me, every being I engaged with, what might be lost in this process?
Would this not rob me of endless opportunities to learn about myself? To develop my own abilities? To become a stronger, more integrated and coherent presence in the world?
No Magical Thinking Needed
I’m not a fan of the whole law-of-distraction way of approaching life, the “just think positive thoughts and you create your reality so nothing bad can ever happen” thing.
That being said, I AM a fan of working with synchronicity and serendipity. When working with synchronicity, we recognize that the things that happen to us, the things we encounter in life are often not inherently good or bad in and of themselves.
The beauty of this awareness is that it can then bring us around to what IS good or bad for us, for our path, for our needs, given our goals, etc… the key in all of that is to become clearer and clearer as we go about who we are and what we’re here to do in this lifetime.
