A meditation group I was involved in a woman started “channeling.” Another woman in the group was writing what was coming through as she would channel for people and they were going to write a book together. I always had a bad vibe from this woman (she once commented on my strong boundaries) and when she was offering practice sessions didn’t offer to me and I didn’t ask. Our meditation coach had passed away and not long after came in a dream to the woman who was writing down the channeling and told her to remove herself from her association with this woman, that there was an entity involved and she was in danger. While alive our meditation leader didn’t pick up on this, and she was a gifted psychic, but missed this. Not until she got to the other side did she have the full view. To your point, Roger, this happens, it’s not so easy to see even for gifted people (our humanness can get in the way - the channeler had money, a home in Florida and would take our meditation leader to this home as a treat), and it’s easy to get drawn in.
